Research Residency
01.02.2026-28.02.2026
Selebe Yoon is pleased to announce Amira Lamti’s research residency in Dakar in February 2026 for a duration of 4 weeks. This residency is part of Nessij’s second edition of a Cross-research Residency Program for visual artists between Senegal and Tunisia, also in collaboration with La Boîte, Centre d’art et d’architecture, Tunis.
Residency
"In Dakar, I want to explore the practices and gestures associated with Ramadan, particularly Soukeurou Koor, the tradition of offering sugar and food at the end of the fast, which, like all traditions, evolves over time. This ritual, both spiritual and communal, inspires me with the simplicity and power of giving: an act of transmission and sharing.
This residency will be a time for listening, research and experimentation, where something is built slowly and conviviality over the course of a month like Ramadan. I will explore the attention paid to details and ordinary gestures, in which rituals, whether spiritual or secular, nourish our collective memory and our contemporary imaginations."
