36th São Paulo Bienal - Not All Travellers Walk Roads – Of Humanity as Practice

Hamedine Kane is participating in the 36th Bienal de São Paulo, “Not All Travellers Walk Roads - Of Humanity as Practice”, curated by Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, co-curated by Keyna Eleison, Alya Sebti, Henriette Gallus, Anna Roberta Goetz and Thiago de Paula Souza
Hamedine Kane's works are the result of long periods of field research, both in archives and through encounters with theorists, writers, historians and local populations far removed from institutionalised circles. Using archives as raw material, Kane conceives of the exhibition as a place for the reproduction of knowledge, stories and sensitive spaces. He is interested in spaces where knowledge circulates, historical events of the 20th century such as pan-African congresses and conferences, but also contemporary attempts to bring people together.
Following a residency in Bahia and São Paulo as part of the 36th São Paulo Biennial, the work The Resources - The Belly of the Atlantic is an installation bringing together three spaces: the African continent, South America and the Atlantic.
