As a closing event for her research residency, artist Nabila Halim will be presenting ‘Home is where the music is’, her residency project, which will take the form of an installation, culinary performance and DJ set. The event will take place on Wednesday May 7th, 2025 at 7pm, at Selebe Yoon.
Through this work, she explores the notion of matrimony, its transmission and the essential role of women in preserving the know-how and the cultural heritage.
The public is invited to take part in an immersive sensory experience, through a ceremony divided into four parts, plunging into the domestic world of the grandmother's house - a matriarchal figure and the starting point for the artist's approach - and then creating a bridge with the musical research in Dakar.
This residency is an exchange project with Moussem, Nomadic Arts Centre (Brussels).
